QUAD

Virtual Campus Platform

I conducted a survey of Queen's college students aimed at determining what difficulties they encounter most often as online students. The most common complaint is there is too many apps and sites students have to use to participate in class making it cumbersome and difficult to stay organized. I designed an app that would provide one centralized platform which would incorporate aspects of all the apps and sites they use. It combines the social and communication features of Discord and slack, the organization and platform of google classroom, blackboard, dropbox, and Zoom as well as the resources and advising access of the school portal. Essentially a virtual campus hence the name "QUAD" which evokes one of the most iconic gathering places on a traditional campus

Quad provides easy access to advisors and institution resources, integrates online class tools, and helps classmates to connect all in one app.

The center icon (the logo) connects to the main feed which puts posts and notifications from all classes and clubs as well as personal reminders and institutional announcements (the app opens on this feed). at the top, there is a profile banner that, when selected, shows a personal profile showing your direct messages, to-do listed color-coded by type of task, and a calendar feature.

On the left users select the expanding menu which shows pages for each class and "club" which is the name for any social group each student has opted to join (like joining channels on slack or discord).

The right icon leads users to a feed dedicated to all content related to their institution and department in addition to sections dedicated to communicating with an advisor, department resources, and school information.
